The UPS Store is a franchise network. Every location sets its own passport photo price, so there is no national rate to quote and the pre-trip phone call is part of the routine.
AAA prices by membership tier: $17 for non-members, $10 at Classic, $8 at Plus, and one free set per year at Premier. AAA is also a federation of independent clubs, so those figures are one club's and another may differ. Both are listed here at the number a walk-in stranger would pay, which is the only comparable figure.
The spread in this table is not really about price, it is about who carries the risk of a rejection.
At $7.64, Walmart prints a photo you upload. Nobody looks at it, so a photo that breaks a rule gets printed just as cheerfully as one that passes. At the top of the range a member of staff frames the shot for you, which catches the obvious mistakes and misses the subtle ones.
In every case the passport office has the final say, and a rejection costs you the trip again. No counter in this table refunds you for that.
Costco closed its photo departments in 2021 and no longer offers passport photos at all. Target stores do not take them either; its photo business is mail order. Both still rank for the search, which is why they are named here rather than quietly left out.

The option that is not in the table
A photo you take yourself is valid for a US passport as long as it meets the State Department's rules. The gap has always been that nothing tells you whether it does, which is the part OnePassPhoto handles: we set the head to the regulation size, fix the background if it needs it, and check every official rule before you pay anything. Franchise brands like The UPS Store let each location set its own rate, AAA prices by membership tier, and Walmart is not a photo service at all, it is a print service.
Only at Walgreens, where it is emailed free. CVS charges $3.99 extra at select stores, FedEx Office gives you the digital copy on a USB drive instead of the prints rather than alongside them, and many Post Offices offer one for a fee. You need the digital file if you are renewing online.
Each row carries the date it was read from that retailer's own page, the oldest here being June 29, 2026. Nothing older than 90 days is published: a rotten price gets dropped rather than reprinted, because a stale number that looks authoritative is worse than an absent one.
Not because of the price, but because of what the price buys. What actually reduces rejection is having the photo checked before you pay for it.
